Youth Justice minister Di Farmer and Thuringowa MP Aaron Harper joined the Ted Noffs Foundation’s CEO Matt Noffs for a behind the scenes look at Queensland’s biggest Street University in Townsville on Monday October 30.

Thuringowa MP Aaron Harper, a long-time advocate for the establishment of a Street University in Townsville, said the new centre was the largest of its kind in Queensland, and he’d already received correspondence from family members of those who’d made use of its services.

A letter from a constituent, read aloud by him at the Street University open day, and delivered recently in parliament called it a ‘valuable asset’.

‘My 16-year-old son and his mates go to this place every day and come home with so many positive things to say about this place,” the letter read.

‘The people and the opportunities that are in front of them are all there. Truly such a valuable asset to the youth community. I truly cannot thank them enough for all they offer to young people. It may only be new, but it’s already had a positive impact on my son and his mates.’
