Our campaign for pill testing is becoming more urgent every day. We’ve seen too many young people suffer the adverse effects of drugs at Australian music festivals, and some have died as a result.
The past year has seen a rise in new synthetic drugs hitting Australian streets; these drugs are unknown substances of unknown potency, and there can be no way of predicting their effects on the body. As their use becomes more frequent, we are likely to see more negative consequences, including death.
Despite this, governments and lawmakers continue to favour of a tough-on-drugs, law enforcement approach. However, this approach has failed to prevent the adverse consequences of experimenting with drugs, and is jeopardising the health and safety of our young people. Death should never be a punishment for experimentation.
We want you to join us in urging governments to back a pill testing trial. We’ve created a video featuring some of our awesome supporters, which you can watch below. All drug use is risky, but it’s time to get smart about drugs, and focus on reducing harm wherever possible.
Who can argue with saving just one life?
