ABC RADIO REPORTS AUSTRALIA’S LARGEST STREET UNIVERSITY OPENS IN TOWNSVILLE

The Ted Noffs Foundation has opened Australia’s largest Street University in Townsville thanks to the Qld Government.

Matt Noffs discusses how Street Universities work to reduce youth crime, problematic drug use, improve lives and make the community safer.
First Nations staff member, Jameekah Howard, said that in the short time since it opened, the Street University had already made a difference. ‘We’ve got a young man in here, he was involved in youth crime and drug and alcohol. He’s now become a volunteer for us.’
The Townsville Street University will be open 2pm – 10pm 7 days a week.
